Meet Ms Triona
You may have seen a bubbly blonde young woman jouncing along with a smile spread from one ear to the next at the Green Shoots International School campus or strolling down Cua Dai street in Hoi An. Who is this lovely human, and what is she doing in Hoi An?
Meet Ms Triona, (pronounced Treee-nah) who started at Green Shoots at the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year. From the moment she set foot on campus, we were in awe of her gentle nature and vibrant smile. Below is a brief but insightful Q and A that looks into the heart and mind of our Year 1 teacher.

What are some of your favourite hobbies or ways to spend time?
Everything that is outdoors in nature such as walking, trekking, hiking, swimming, camping and cycling. All types of art like painting, drawing, millinery and writing poetry. Also… yoga, meditation, reading and spending quality time with friends and family.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
When I grow up I want to be proud of the journey I have taken… To have no regrets and be grateful for all experiences and lessons learned along the way. I want to still embrace a youthful sense of adventure, fun and spontaneity, and continue to make trails where no paths lie.
What is your spirit animal? Why?
My spirit animal is a hummingbird because I enjoy the freedom of life and the lightness of being. Like the hummingbird, I may be small but I’m strong and determined!
What makes a great teacher?
A great teacher instills a love of learning in their students by creating an environment to suit the needs, passions, and drive of each individual, whom they have given time to truly get to know.

Sunshine, coastline and blue skies, without a doubt!
How and when did you end up in Vietnam?
I’m here in Vietnam having followed my heart and not given up on a dream to live in Hoi An and work at Green Shoots International School. I arrived at the beginning of July, flying in from Cambodia where I had been teaching down south in Kampot. So far the living dream is beautiful.
What is the most beautiful place in the world that you have ever been?
It is very difficult to choose one so a few of the most beautiful places I have ever been to are: Lake Bled, Slovenia. Palawan, the Philippines. Iguazu Falls, Brazil. Casperia, Italy and of course the rolling hills and fresh green pastures of home! (The Irish countryside)
If you could meet any human being that ever lived, who would it be and why?
Leonardo Da Vinci, as he was a fascinating and inspirational genius. A master of almost everything!
